RE: Feedback wanted on RVdirect.com

We bought our Designer from RVDirect last year. They were great to work with, and, after picking it up myself in Des Moines, I saved close to $10K over the best local deal I could get. No dealer around here would touch that price, and a couple of them told me I would go to the bottom of the list when it came to service. It's funny, because when I went to that dealer's service department for warranty work, they were great !! I told them what the saleman told me and they said "Salesman will tell you anything to get the sale". The Des Moines facility did the PDI ... but to be honest, I knew more about the trailer then they did!! There were a couple of issues that they fixed right away. Would have no hesitation buying from them again. ! CRUZ

RE: Cruise control or not when towing??

I use mine all the time, except in city traffic or mountain roads. Works great. CRUZ

RE: Pin Wt

I put "SuperSprings" on mine and they work great .... My fiver is 11,679 dry, truck is 7,300 loaded with wife, dogs, fuel and cargo. Pin weight is 2600 when packed for camping ... yea, right at 9900 ... truck drops 2 1/4" when I hitch up. Doesn't change the "rated" GVWR of the truck ... but handles it just fine. FYI - the 2500 and Single Rear Wheel 3500 GM Diesels are the same truck ... with the exception of heavier duty springs and tires on the 3500 !! :h Cruz

RE: Designer 35RLTS and Jayco Talk...Thanks Frank!!

... I like the L shaped couch, how much room is there between the l shape on the couch, and the recliner next to it when the slide is closed? I need a better recliner (bigger) than the ones they come with, just wanted to know if there is plenty of room. When the slides are closed the chair and "L" portion of the couch are pretty much touching! I travel with the lounge chairs back to back and strapped together. There should be plenty of room if you keep one of the original lounge chairs in the front (next to the "L"), and add the larger one towards the back ... CRUZ

RE: Designer 35RLTS and Jayco Talk...Thanks Frank!!

Question for everyone about their fridge. I have always ran it on a setting of 5, but had to go up to a setting of 8 last weekend. Have the 10 foot fridge too. Has anyone installed a fan on the outside of fridge to help, and did it? Kept the pantry door open as it was getting hot in it too. Thanks for the info on the weld, checked mine and all was well. We had to turn ours up to 9 or 10 a few weeks ago ... and it still didn't seem cold enough ... AND our psntry always seems to get hot. I picked up a couple of DC fans that I intend on installing next weekend. Hopefully will help. CRUZ

RE: Securing Swivel Rocker Recliners while traveling

Ours came with a heavy fabric sleeve that we can slide over the back of one chair, then we place them back to back and strap them together with the canvas strap that came with it. They Do Not Move, and no wear marks !! We don't tie down the dinette chairs at all, and they've never moved either. Cruz

RE: Satellite mount

I made a stand from PVC a few weeks ago. Have used it a couple times and it stays put, even in heavy winds. Don't have to weigh it down either !! here's a LINK to how to make it. Very easy and inexpensive. I drilled out the weld spots on the LNB arm, and use a couple of bolts and wing nuts to bolt it back on when setting up. All adjustments are also with winguts. CRUZ

RE: New 5ver: Cardinal, Montana, Bighorn,Jayco Designer

As you're finding out, opinions are like ... well, you get the idea. Our choices when we looked (for over a year) 1. Jayco Designer / Bighorn 2. Cardinal and a distant 6th. Montana Reasons we picked what we did ... Quality/Comfort and Floorplan. Reasons we did not pick the following ... Bighorn ... comfort and floorplan. (couch and lounge chairs not as comfortable) Cardinal ... Floorplan Montana ... Quality/Comfort/Floorplan and dealer. Again ... just my opinion. CRUZ

RE: OR to AZ Route ... This time of year ??

cruz: I would take 93 thru Jackpot Nv. to Eli then 6 to 318 which ties back into 93 then on into Vagas. You catch 93 at Twin Falls Idaho. Shorter I think plus you don't have to mess with Salt Lake City. The little jag from Eli cuts out 40 miles and you don't have as many curves etc. Feel free to PM me and I can give better instructions if you want. Chuck Checked out the route ... looks like a possible choice .. THX F-Troop - If I need chains ... Where am I most likely to run into potential snow issues? Don't really want to "go there" ... CRUZ

OR to AZ Route ... This time of year ??

Considering taking I-84 East out of Portland on a return trip from Oregon last week of November. Then catch I-15 South in Salt Lake City down to Las Vegas. Any thoughts about doing this at that time of year?? :h Not familiar at all with what to expect in that neck of the woods !! THX CRUZ

RE: 2500 HD Towing 12,000 lbs

OK for all of you that feel you are well within limits towing heavy with your 3/4 ton trucks, I would like to ask a question and please no comments just a straight answer. When going down a hill at highway speeds and going around corners do you feel like you are being pushed around the corners? Nope ... not at all. Tow/Haul mode on this Allison is awesome, and does a great job "controlling" the downhill speed. CRUZ

RE: 35 RLTS

YES ... Wire comes in from the front curb side corner of the vent opening. Mine was even prewired for thermostat if you wanted to add one. I added the second A/C myself and works great !! CRUZ

RE: 2500 HD Towing 12,000 lbs

our 5'r is 11,679# DRY ... GVWR is higher than I'll ever load it ... at 15,800. Truck is rated to pull 14,900. I added Supersprings and higher rated tires ... an AFE Air Intake and a 5" exhaust Cat back. Boost & EGT guages ... Pulls and Handles great!! CRUZ

RE: Braking Help needed

I had a similar problem a couple years ago. I took it to an RV dealer. They removed all four wheels and found the wiring that goes to one of the brake magnets was rubbing against a moving part. It had worn through the wiring insulation so this was giving an intermittent problem for the brake controller. Sometimes the brakes worked and sometimes no brakes. Ditto ... Brake wire rubbing against the hub wore clean thru ... gave me the same codes on my Prodigy. CRUZ
